Foot and Ankle

Cause of Achilles tendinitis
          Most common cause is an overuse injury of the Achilles tendons, repetitive stress due to excessive exercise, walking or sport activities.

Risk factors
          High-performance athletes especially in running or jumping, neglecting proper stretching, wearing ill-fitting footwear, friction at Achilles tendon

Signs and symptoms
          Heel pain and swelling at the back of the heel. Radiography may show calcification deposits within the tendon.

Treatment
          In most cases, nonsurgical treatment will be recommended. Achilles tendinitis treatment includes rest, physical therapy and medications.

 

Hand, Wrist and Shoulder

Signs and Symptoms
