Total Knee Arthroplasty (TKA) also known as Total Knee Replacement (TKR) surgery is the most effective surgical treatment for patients with moderate to severe osteoarthritis (OA knee), in which parts of damaged knee joint are removed and replaced with a prosthesis. It will help to resolve knee pain from degeneration, greatly increase the quality of life, and improve knee function.
TKA can be expected to last at least 15 to 20 years. Therefore, the patients aged between 50 to 60 years are more suitable to undergo the TKA procedure. But it is not suitable for younger patients because the lifespan of the prosthesis.
Reasons for the TKA procedure
TKA is one of the most commonly reason while the other treatments have failed to relieve the OA-associated knee pain such as;

Pre-operation

After the operation
- During your hospital stays, a physiotherapist will come and check your conditions, give some instructions, and show you how to perform frequent exercises by using your new knee. Moreover, you must continue physiotherapy at your home and gradually increase your activity level.
- Knee Replacement surgery provide pain relief, improve the quality of life, and increase mobility. After recovery, you can do low-impact activities such as walking, climbing stairs, golfing, swimming, or biking. But it is important to note that you should avoid high-impact activities such as jogging, and sports that involve contact or jumping. You should adhere to your doctor’s advice.
- You should visit to the hospital for all follow up appointments to monitor your knee conditions for any symptoms or complications. If you found any signs of infection such as swelling and heat at the incision site, prolonged fever, or severe pain in the joint, you should see the doctor as early as possible.

- This price includes doctor fees, nursing service fees and hospital service fees.
- This price includes the cost of an inpatient room (Standard Single Room) for 5 days and 4 nights including meals specified in the package.
- This price includes the cost of medicine to take home as specified in the package.
- This price does not include pre-operative and post-operative diagnostic fees other than those specified in the package.
- In case abnormalities are found or the patient have to see a doctor for further diagnosis, the hospital has right to charge an additional service fee.
- This price does not include expenses in the case of emergency surgery or a condition that requires additional special medical equipment or requires more time for surgery than specified in the package.
- This price does not include room fees and expenses in the case of staying in the hospital for more than a number of days specified in the package.
- The package does not cover personal expenses in the room, such as relatives’ meals, drinks, and telephone calls other than those specified in the package.
- This price does not include the cost of receiving blood and blood products.
- The hospital reserves the right to charge the full price as specified in the package in case that the patient refuses to undergo treatment or refuses to perform the procedures specified in the package.
Qualifications of those who unable to use this package are as follow:
- Patient who has organ/function failure
- Patient who has congenital disease that cannot be controlled (according to the description of the doctor)
- Patient who has complications or at high risk for surgery
- Patient who has a history of acute myocardial infarction (AMI) within 6 months
- Patent who has HIV infection
- In the other cases, it is according to the doctor’s description.
